@hswapnil @kidney_boy A patient who is well known to nephrology yet starts dialysis in an unplanned fashion is a different issue than patients who “crash” onto dialysis or are unknown or referred late to nephrology. There is a lack of clear terminology and consensus definitions in this area.

Unplanned dialysis is largely a social issue from underinsured patients and a psychological issue of patients unwilling to face tough truths about dwindling kidney function.

@ClinChemMD @Gabby_Brauner27 Agree, residency is not a job but rather an extension of your training. You are nowhere near ready to practice Medicine at the end of medical school. If you look at it as a job, then you should not expect constant teaching and be fine with just “scut”work. It goes both ways.
