The weight room is the most influential room in a school. It’s not a place to hang out — it’s a classroom. A place where habits are built, standards are set, and character is developed.

HS Athletes: If only 7% of you will play at the next level, can you HONESTLY say that you’re out working 93% of the rest of the high schoolers in the country? Talent sets the floor. Character and hard work set the ceiling.

More high school football team previews are coming as we enter August (football month!). There's a lot of excitement around @GWTrailblazerFB after the remarkable turnaround they had last year. From 3 wins to 10 wins... to maybe, a Section title? kmph.com/sports/content…

Recruits, please understand that nobody but D1 is offering people in the 27 class and beyond. You aren’t being ignored, slept on or whatever you want to call it. Guys I’m only offering 26’s. If you are interested leave me a DM with your highlights or whatever that’s perfect. If I don’t contact you right away that doesn’t mean I’m not interested. I also have a lot of other things to do besides recruit I have a team to take care of and they take precedence. Guys you must be patient in the recruiting game no matter what others build you up to think. I’m trying to help you guys when I give these tips. Scholarships are not meaningless, they are not to be counted as “likes” on your snaps, or IG posts. They will come guys, don’t worry yourself about them. Don’t be in such a hurry to get out of high school. Enjoy your time as young men. High school football is the most magical thing in the world don’t minimize it and rush through it. Your high school teammates and coaches need you locked in to them. If you do that the offers will come! BET!

I am not one to use this language because I think it’s counter productive. I can tear down a kids actions and behaviors without resorting to using name calling. Yes, we battle soft parents, but our clientele are kids, they have not changed, society has. Knowing this, it’s our job to change as the adults in the room. That being said, I’m really not interested in what the parents say, I’m more interested in what the kids say. Maybe his kids respond to him, (I still don’t condone the language) because if he is doing things the right way (which it seems he is with his admins support), kids know if a coach is there for them or just for selfish purposes. A parent told me one time, she told her son to listen to what I’m saying than how I’m saying it. The kid changed the way he took “hard coaching” from me. So maybe Dad should look to see if his son is exhibiting traits and behaviors that are causing a coach to respond in this fashion. Thus fixing the root problem.

This is exactly why we’re seeing head coach turnover year after year. Soft parenting is raising soft kids—who can’t handle discipline or adversity. Props to the Clovis East principal for standing by their coach. Administrators: take notice. Back your coaches, or you’ll keep losing good ones. Breaking news…life is tough buckaroo!
