Mein Kampf has been one of the most sold books in Arabic libraries for more than a generation; and I say this from personal experience, not from statistics. Three of my uncles in Lebanon were book publishers. Growing up, I attended Arabic book fairs every year. And I remember clearly that among the first books my hands fell on as a young Muslim in Lebanon were the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and Mein Kampf; books I read before I ever read the Quran, because my parents were liberal Arab nationalists, not devout Muslims. This is not an abstraction. This is the culture that Arab and Muslim children grow up swimming in.

@JackRyansfatco1 @MarkIssaTexts That's not what I'm trying to do. I'm just saying it's not as simple as "let's stop the bombing and make sure Palestinians have full recognition as a state". The violence will just begin again

Even the path you’re trying to take is the same “oh poor Israel they never do anything people just hate them look at this book they’re reading” the point of the post is dehumanize an entire population (a lot of them Christian) to justify bombing apartment blocks and killing civilians.

@JackRyansfatco1 @MarkIssaTexts Because anti-semitism, in various forms, is unfortunately common around the world. It doesn't have to be as nefarious as you're making it out to be. You can't understand israel/palestine without acknowlwdging that it is mostly an ethnic conflict going back centuries

@JackRyansfatco1 @MarkIssaTexts I don't care to talk or argue about your broader points, and I don't know who this guy is that you're replying to. But mein kompf is commonly read in the Arab world. It's undoubtedly true. It's also very widely read in India. You can spend two seconds verifying this

I call bullshit and don’t care about your anecdotal story. This is like when they found the 9/11 hijackers passport at the base of the twin towers, it’s bullshit. You’re literally trying to justify the slaughter of innocent civilians, targeting of civilian infrastructure, displacement of a million people, and war crimes because someone supposedly found a book in someone’s house. You’re a scumbag.

Iran demanding payment in bitcoin in the Strait of Hormuz is not the win you think it is. "Terrorist financing" is the one major concern that will push CLARITY Act DeFi discussions on KYC/AML over the edge. And the biggest terrorist there is, according to the US, is the very country now demanding payment in BTC – explicitly to bypass sanctions and confiscation. If you KYC every endpoint, BTC can be confiscated just as well as any other asset on earth: through the threat of force and violence. Ensuring freedom of transaction in the US (and arguably anywhere else) just became a hell of a lot harder.

@GPIngersoll I mean, no, he didn't, because that's physically impossible especially for someone with injuries. They would collapse from exhaustion and/or die well before making it that distance. Original post is based on multiple definitely-invalid assumptions

For the uninitiated, a forced march is something like 25 miles a day. Commanders know if they do two many consecutive days, the run the risk of injury, sickness and death. And that’s setting aside that your able guys are all shot. This guy did four of those in one day. It’s basically a sustained trot for 24 hours
Roger@rdd147

The rescue of the second pilot gets so much more interesting when you realize he walked 110 miles in a single day to get to his location from crash sight and other pilot.

GDP doesn't mean shit. Example: you can get an MRI scan in China for about $50, same day. Food costs less, rent in most cities is less. A 5 star hotel in China (same chain) costs 1/10th as much as in America. You can get a good electric care for about 20K, etc, etc...
The c in causal stands for Cory@coryfromphilly

Chinese infrastructure photos are wild because they seem so advanced, except then you're reminded that China has a GDP per capita similar to Mexico. Impressive 30+ year gains, but what this tells us is that infrastructure is actually kinda easy to do!

The Palestinians will not accept: 1. A two state framework, which is the final status resolution preferred by the US, Europe and most American Jews. 2. A secular Western-style democracy governed by a strong rule-of-law system under which all ethnic groups have equal rights. This is the solution envisioned by most Western leftists, and what they mean when they say "Free Palestine." Western leftists like to pretend the Palestinians are fighting for liberalism, for democracy and for pluralism. They are not. What the Palestinians want is: The destruction of Israel and its replacement with an Arab Islamist kleptocracy under which Jews, Druze, Christians and other minority ethnics will endure dhimmitude at best and likely genocide or ethnic cleansing. If the Palestinians have no intention of coexisting with Israel, then the conflict is existential and will continue until one side ceases to exist. That means there has to be a war which must continue until its outcome permanently settles the dispute over whether this is Israel or Palestine. Given the rising political power of Muslim factions throughout Europe and increasingly in the US, it is to Israel's benefit that this existential war begins as soon as possible. If the Palestinians would prefer not to have such a war (which would inevitably lead to mass death, destruction and dispossession on their side), their only alternative is to adopt the two state framework and seek a peaceful, diplomatic, permanent resolution of the conflict. To reiterate: There are only two possible final status possibilities: Two states at peace or a horrible war that ends with Jewish Israel from the river to the sea. The Palestinians get to choose which they want.
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

I lay out my case to @PeterBeinart that forcing Israeli Jews to dissolve their own state would be undemocratic, even if we see that as a "just" outcome. But my argument is that it wouldn't be just because it wouldn't be democratic. Full episode: wisdomofcrowds.live/p/peter-beinar…

"We have an ancient line of animals which once had 30 or more successful species, and has gone extinct down to just one single representative, and that representative has conquered the entire world (us)." Stop this, it's dishonest. Nobody but a handful of white boomers believes this. It is not correct according to the methods by which we sort all other creatures.

We have gigantic creatures in the sea which can sing for hours and have arteries so big you can crawl through them. (whales) We have birds that fly 50,000 miles every year. From the antarctic to the arctic and back again. (arctic tern) We have living creatures which never get old and never die naturally. (jellyfish) We have animals which you can force through a sieve, and they can reassemble themselves. (sponges) We have an ancient line of animals which once had 30 or more successful species, and has gone extinct down to just one single representative, and that representative has conquered the entire world (us). We have horrors that look just like rocks and if you step on them your whole world becomes agonizing pain. (toadfish) We have animals who hide inside other animals, and when you eat that animal, they enter your intestines and live there. (tapeworms) We have plants which live on other plants and never touch the ground. There's a fruit tree that grows around another tree, and eventually kills and replaces it. (strangler fig) We have gliding lizards, marsupials, snakes, frogs, and rodents. What the heck do you need fairies for?

People think they’re being clever when they compare Hamas to the Jewish resistance against the Nazis. “You want me to condemn Hamas raping, murdering, and kidnapping civilians? That’s like asking me to condemn the Warsaw uprising.” Except it’s not. Hamas doesn’t exist to protect Palestinians; it murders them and uses them as human shields. The Warsaw uprising, led by Zionist Jews by the way, was the last stand of people who were days from Auschwitz, fighting the soldiers who came to gas them. They didn’t murder German women and children. And Israel has not been, nor was planning to, systematically exterminate six million Palestinians in less than 4 years. So no. It’s not the same. Not even close.

Why am I so invested in Israel if I’m a non-Jew or non-Israeli? I spent years in Israel as an adolescent and experienced what goes on their firsthand. I rode Jerusalem city buses to school at the height of the first intifada. It’s a bizarre thing to sit next to a fully armed Israeli soldier and also realize that you could blow up at any moment just for existing. I also served in the United States Army during the war on terror after 9/11. It was strange to me that to see that we were fighting the same enemy the Israelis were, that that enemy had made clear what its intentions were on 9/11, and yet… the American people couldn’t seem to make the connection that the enemies of Israel and the enemies of the United States are one and the same. So when people say America First, they don’t realize that without Israel as the vanguard, fighting the enemy every day… we’d probably have a lot more 9/11s. And they’d probably be a lot worse.
