Book 23 of 2026: Brigands and Breadknives by Travis Baldree A slightly less cosy cosy fantasy about mid life crises, letting go of the familiar and embrassing the unknown when your daybto daybleaves you feeling empty. Just with a talking breadknife and rat people.

Book 22 of 2026: The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow What started as a 29 page Amazon Exclusive story became maybe my favourite Harrow novel. A story of love, ambition, greed, the power of stories, why female leaders dont make things better and fate.

2026 Reading Thread: Book 1 of 2026: Guns of the Dawn by Adrian Tchaikovsky (narrated by Emma Newman) Maybe the closest to historical fiction that I have read from Tchaikovsky. A noblewoman is drafted to war in a great novel about the strain of war and what it makes people do.

Doing some editing for Discworld Order (you are in for an absolute treat on the 1st of April) and there is now a common theme where every episode someone points something out that i've missed...

New year, new book thread. Children of Ruin - Adrian Tchaikovsky I preferred this to the first. It still has that almost intimidating world building, but I felt it wasn't as clogged down in it.

@Iversen83 Pratchett really wanted to avoid retreading old ground in this one in terms of who interacts with who and who get the most time. Also, how would you rank the Witches Books (best to least best).

Carpe Jugulum - Terry Pratchett The Granny book with the least Granny, but Pratchett really makes her moments count.

Ogawa of Humax Entertainment, the company that operates Shinjuku FACE, did a interview and mentioned that the closure was due to plans to rebuild the building due to its aging. He stated there was a need for a venue the size of Shinjuku FACE. He mentioned they are also exploring the possibility of opening a new venue. He wants to build close to a station either in Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, or Shibuya. If they build in Shinjuku again he would want to call it Shinjuku FACE.

As I get into the middle of the Discworld novels I read things that feel incredibly prescient and like they were written yesterday. Carpe Jugulum set a new bar. Talking about two sidesing conversation and hand wring about calling something evil in 1998...

@ClassicCatch84 I wanted to say @PuroPodcast as his novel "The Rise & Fall of Rikidozan" features Zappetti as a character. However, the postscript lists this book as part of the background reading so I dont know how much more he knows.

I saw this book and wanted to know if anyone knew anything about Nick Zappetti? It says he “had a failed stint as a professional wrestler” who became the “king of Roppongi.” The book mentions the Sharpes and John MacFarland III, who apparently suggested a diamond heist?
