@Cowsep And me here thinking Riot would give us a true classic Master Yi experince, but they pulled some random crap from the early alpha release date and called it a day.

@RiotNorak @miltlul Forgot to mention but it hurts AP lane as well, in the early laning phase. You have no tools anymore other than Q.

@MonstrousYi @miltlul You mean AD Lane? Yi is already kinda strong so giving him a consistent trading/ganking pattern like that might be too much, though I'm not a designer so it's not my call. The designers on classic have shown to be amenable to changes if the initial call was wrong tho

@RiotNorak @miltlul The only thing this passive is good at in lane i messing up your cs. You can adjust Yi but not this passive. It's either way too strong or useless.

@RiotNorak @miltlul Unbelievable thinking, the classic Yi i know and remember used to be able to lane and now he's a jungler only. You basically have no passive in lane. 99.99% players dont even know about that passive. Picking an alpha patch randomness over a proper nostalgic gameplay 😂😂

@miltlul It's actually one of the suggestions I made! My reasoning was predictable double strike led to a pattern of built it up -> trade/gank. The random felt more classic to me, however I'm not the one who makes decisions like these, so I can't say if that's why they went with it

@SkinSpotlights I wish they'd change Yi's passive to the 7 stack. The random 10% is and feels terrible to play.

Looks like Riot are massively increasing their investment into integrating AI into their workflows.... I expect this will lead to monetization tactics to get worse (Classic monetization was probably a test to see what lands and what doesn't) to offset the cost increase, bugs and issues will probably also start getting worse.

@LeagueOfLegends I wish we got the OG pizza feet design. This mid season 3 rework design is what got rid of AP Yi in the first place, and now just slapping an AP scale on the Q and calling it classic.

My time at Riot and on TFT as a Game Designer has come to an end. Just under 10 years, and to be honest I thought it was going to be longer, but sometimes things change.

I’m so grateful for what I was able to be a small part of, and able to accomplish in the last decade. It’s been a dream career, and I have got to do so much thanks to Riot. Even trying to list it all feels insane what I managed to do in this time. And the crazy 7 years on TFT where I got to design, balance, teach, lead, and more for my job, but then also build a community, stream, cast, go to events…it’s just been amazing. Ending on stuff like the Unlock system and a couple other things…I’m heading out proud.
To everyone I worked with over the years, thank you for letting me be a part of everything we accomplished. I hope I managed to teach you something or bring you joy in some way. I genuinely hope our paths cross again in the future.
To everyone who supported TFT or me over the years, you have no idea what it means to me. I cherish all the moments over the years, and they’ll keep me going. I am so blessed to have been a part of your lives and thank you for letting me bring some fun into your world.

So…what’s next for me? I’m trying to figure that out.
First off, since I was on sabbatical and am terrible at relaxing/not working, I have been making my own small indie game. I’m about 2 months into development and have already had folks playtesting some early builds. I’d say the game is like 20-30% done, but my goal is to release it as a full game. It’s been fun keeping my skills sharp in a different space, and I hope to share it with you all someday.
Beyond that, I’m keeping my eyes open for other opportunities. I’ve had a few conversations here and there already during my Sabbatical. It’s a brutal industry right now, so I’m taking one day at a time and figuring out what’s next for me, whether it’s working on another studio’s game or even my own thing.
And I’d love to find a space to do some content creation and be able to share my knowledge of game development. But that may take some time to figure out how to do it right.

I think this was the best possible from this situation. W Riot.
But it still doesn’t remove the fact leveling in League is ass
So many players/creators turn around as soon as they hear how many normal games they have to play to unlock ranked
This needs to change
