In the Gospel of Matthew, specifically Matthew 6:7
“And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.”
Vain repetitions sticks out like a sore thumb to Protestants. And it often leads to disagreements with their Catholic/Orthodox brothers.
On the Protestant hand, it’s taken quite literally. Where the Rosary prayed by Catholic Christians is used as an example for vain repetitions, thus condemning Catholics for Idolatry over Mary.
But on the Catholic/Orthodox hand, it’s understood that vain repetitions is when the person praying has the intention of only asking for worldly things. “Lord give me this” “lord give me that” “Lord grant me X”
Christ does not condemn the use of many words per se, but teaches that words must express the desire for communion with God. Jesus gives us specific words to repeat (Matthew 6:9-13).
True prayer is not telling God what He already knows and then telling Him what to do about it, nor is it appearing pious in front of others.

Catholic priests abuse at a rate that is no higher than other clergy, lower than the general population, and much lower than schoolteachers. But in the 1990s and 2000s, Hollywood made movies like "Primal Fear" that cast priests as predators. Then the mainstream press focused on the few real cases (and mixed in a bunch of fake ones) and reported on them non stop for years. Then lawyers saw an opportunity and started suing the deep pocketed churches. All of this gave the impression that the problem was rampant, widespread and common. To this day, most people think priests abuse at a high rate. They don't. The rate is tiny. In any given room of men, priests are among the LEAST likely to be a pedo.
If your brain hears "priest" and thinks "pedo", know that you were psyoped by Hollywood and the media.
