Policing and criminal justice are falling apart. The Manchester Airport offenders haven’t been charged, peodophiles are walking free, domestic abusers being released early from prison, police are terrified of upsetting identity based communities, arrest people for year old tweets, and police different racial communities differently (isn’t that racist?). What happened to “everyone is equal before the law”? When that principle is abandoned, so is the rule of law. When the rule of law is abandoned, either anarchy or suppression follow.

This from Jeremey Clarkson resonates with me so much. Also a Remainer, I held the same view. People like he and I are many. We watched the working classes be labelled "moronic far right xenophobes, confused by a bus", and it woke a lot of us up. Those same people, who were asked a question, answered it, have been denigrated for the last 8 years. They still haven't got what they asked for in that 8 years - in fact, it's got considerably worse than when they voted Leave, yet 8 years later, they're now called "Far Right". We stopped being a democratic country in 1997. This was confirmed in 2016 when the proles didn't do what they were told. And in 2024, we're seeing the repercussions of 30 years of the abuse of the people. 30 YEARS, they've taken your money, and given you nothing in return. So stop. #FullNAtionalStrike

Very moving interview on Radio 4 this morning with John Hayes, the hero who tried to tackle the Southport attacker. Here’s what he said towards the end of the discussion: “I actually don’t think that the trouble and the riot has got anything at all to do with the Southport stabbings. There appears to have been a strong undercurrent of discontent for some time about the levels of immigration, and this [the Southport attack] is just a catalyst or a trigger, but I don’t think it’s the root cause. “I’m not particularly politically-motivated, but I do get dismayed when I hear Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper talking about the police are going to come down with the full force of the law on these people. But they’re not actually talking about the root cause, and they need to start listening and understanding that they need to address the cause rather than the symptoms. “Putting these guys in prison isn’t going to deal with the core issues. I don’t condone the violence, but there’s an awful lot of unhappy people in this country at the moment that want something to be done, and I don’t think until they start to address that, that this problem is going to go away.”

What more proof do some need? Here is a West Midlands Police officer admitting that there was no police present in Birmingham yesterday because the “community leaders” said there would be no trouble. When police presence is optional for some communities, it’s two tier policing.

Home Office ministers should not be making excuses for masked men shouting, abusing, and intimidating members of the media. Ministers are not commentators or casual observers, they are decision makers and need to think about the consequences of their words and actions.

If you arrive at a ‘counter protest’ with a blade that big, you’re only there for one thing, violence. If two tier policing didn’t exist then he would be pinned down and arrested by 9 policemen. So far he is just stood there on a live broadcast without any repercussions.
