@OrahOnX Thanks, Orah! I'm slowly getting back into it. I love science and space communication, and this platform is the best for it. Plus, Artemis II is launching today, and I just had to talk about it 🚀🌕 I'm happy to see you're still so active here!

@solar8bubblz That would be a good topic to explore soon 🤔 As far as I know, short video influencers tend to be more idealized, and that's mixed with the negative effects of watching reels.

(1/8) MUSES, MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRL AND THE NEURODIVERSITY THEY IMPLY. Two sides of the same coin, and what makes them shine in the world and in the minds of those who observe them. From Ancient Greece to the most recent films, there has always been a small group of women known not only for their talents and peculiarities but also for their ability to inspire, opening the minds of those who interact with them to a new reality and ideas, and motivating them to improve. Interacting with them is like taking a break from mundane life. But, what does all this have to do with neurodiversity? How do I find a muse? And if you, like me, are a woman, perhaps you're wondering: Am I one? Let's start this thread ⬇️🧵

Neuralink and Star Wars are more alike than we give them credit for. And no, I'm not just talking about The Force. Although, well... that's part of it. Neuralink is one of the most advanced real-world examples of a brain-computer interface (or BCI). It uses the same fundamental principle that would be necessary for communication via 3D holograms and remote drone charging: radio frequency waves that send energy and information wirelessly. So we're almost, almost, almost about to feel the same excitement as Obi-Wan Kenobi when he played Princess Leia's message. (Or hyper-realistic avatars, or the revolution in education with visual effects, or a passionate message in the wee hours.) (No morally grey thoughts, now) The difference lies in the amount of data and its distance. Neuralink = Moderate data + short distance + low power consumption = data flow in the Gigahertz range (Neuralink fulfilling Nikola Tesla's fantasy) 3D Holograms = the foundations of Neuralink raised to a bandwidth greater than 5G = data flow in the Terahertz range (1,000 GHz) (Yes, we'll still have to wait a few years and see some advancements) Another use for radiofrequency waves is to scorch human tissue: it's called Radiofrequency Ablation, and as far as we know, it's used for medical purposes to destroy small tumors, correct cardiac arrhythmias by burning heart tissue, and destroy nerves that transmit harmful signals, among other uses. Its applications give us much to think about. It's a technology that's still considered science fiction, and yet it's right here.

You can't reduce everything to a product or a label, much less people. But those who claim to hate labels do so under the premise that labels are all we are as individuals, and at the same time, they reinforce this view of limiting experience. Labels can guide and direct perception, but using them as a cage is wrong.

@Moon_Gover It has to be your passion otherwise why do it. I think your content is great and engaging and why I follow you. You post cool stories.

The problem remains the same: many niche profiles get little to no visibility because they lack the opportunity to gain traction. There are verified profiles that only follow other verified profiles, turning impressions into a commodity rather than organic growth driven by a genuine love for the content. This is why there are bubbles of profiles that only follow each other, trapped in a monetizable hamster wheel. Personally, in a few days I'll no longer be able to publish long posts. I don't like writing threads, but I like the current management of the situation even less, and this is my form of silent, albeit somewhat ineffective, protest for a few days or months.

Payouts are shifting from engagement to impressions. Problem solved.

@ApoStructura Your content is of very high quality because your website and focus are exceptional, but it seems that X is making it more difficult to think about income stability with Premium or at least a simple correlation with engagement.

4x impressions, 3x engagement, and my payout got somehow halved. Does someone have insight as to what might be driving this?

I'm just stopping by today to let you know this book exists. Synopsis: What if calling someone stupid was illegal? In a reality not too distant from our own, the worst thing you can call someone is 'stupid'. Everyone is equally clever, and discrimination based on intelligence is 'the last great civil rights fight'. Exams and grades are discarded and you don't need a qualification to be a doctor. When best friends Pearson and Emory find themselves on opposing sides of this new culture war, their relationship begins to fracture. And soon, Pearson’s determination to cling onto the 'old, bigoted way of thinking' begins to endanger her job, her safety and even her family…

I feel that a large part of it is due to the drive for monetization, which demands impressions, leading to many low-quality posts in most cases. If you look at @Bangers, you'll see what kind of posts are rewarded. Furthermore, it seems the algorithm prioritizes new content from only one or two topics, to the detriment of many others that are less popular but could be of interest to users. It's a low-risk but effective strategy in many cases, focusing on engagement. Personally, with the increase in monetization criteria, I've jumped ship. I don't want to be part of the problem, nor do I want to publish outside my niche and beyond what I post organically.

Something bothers me with my current feed. On the one hand, I now see long form posts routinely, which at first looks like a good thing. Right? But on the other hand, when I start reading them, the vast majority seem like mega slop. Not even necessarily AI slop, but boring and bland posts to begin with. In the past, when I used to see long form posts in my feed, they used to always be interesting. Now, finding an interesting post at all is like looking for a needle in a haystack. It’s like overnight, at one point in the last few weeks, everyone started just writing longer posts simply because short form slop started being penalized. But it doesn’t make the feed more pleasant to read, it just takes longer to sift through the crap just because now you can’t even assume long form posts will be any good, unless you know whoever posted them consistently posts interesting things. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me and I need to work harder to shape what the algorithm sends me, but recently the vast majority of the content I’m shown has just been so bland. I’m just the team working behind the scene is doing their best, but right now I see too little from my mutuals, and too much boring stuff instead. Maybe it’s time for me to take an X break or something, at least for a while. But I’m worried this kind of resets might lead to an even worse feed when I come back. If you’ve ever taken an X “vacation”, do you have any suggestions on what to do to make this a productive one, giving you a better feed afterwards? Or should I just completely give up on the for you feed to exclusively check my lists instead at this point? Anyway, don’t worry if I disappear completely for a few days. I shall be back, but I want this platform to actually add value to my days once again, instead of just browsing it on autopilot and only seeing poor content on my feed.

The Dead Internet Theory is gaining increasing support. Meanwhile, many people are trying to return to a more analog life, recognizing that they miss a certain balance and a version of the internet that will never return. Is there a plausible middle ground? 1st 📊Source: Imperva Bad Bot Report
