Is $10 million worth ending up homeless, incarcerated, or unable to recognize the people in your life? People need to remember that the decision to retire isn’t just about what you can still do today. It’s also about protecting the person you’ll have to live with for the rest of your life. Ironically, the mindset required to succeed in one of the toughest and most physically damaging sports on the planet, the relentless drive to push forward, ignore pain, and believe you’re the exception is often the very thing that makes it hardest to recognize when it’s time to stop and think long-term.
