@SecDuffy Clarification: the landings drop from 54>36/hr is not only because of the change in approaches. We've also got runway 1R closed for six months of repaving

FAA banned parallel landings permanently, will be bad for SFO (max landings drop from 54>36/hr) Given the topography of SFO, we have 2 parallel runways 750’ apart. There was an accident at DCA last year, now the FAA is mandating staggered approaches :(

Gavin Newsom doubled Medicaid spending, from $94 billion to $197B per year, while his state's population declined by 0.2 percent. It's not "services expanding" and "new programs being launched." It's just billions in fraud—and massive handouts to his union paymasters.
Governor Newsom Press Office@GovPressOffice

Right-wing stooge posing as a “reporter” has never heard of services expanding, new programs being launched, or costs going up due to inflation. Suggest he subscribe to our press release list to learn more about how the Governor is delivering for Californians.

Women only want to be hit on more by *attractive men* If a woman finds you unattractive, you hitting on her will only be viewed as harassment, being creepy, or something even worse I'm not saying that's how it should be, I'm saying that's objectively how it is
Chris Williamson@ChrisWillx

Everyone wants to be asked out more. 2,315 people were asked “Do you wish people hit on you more or less?” 92% of men said they wish they were approached more. There’s a moderate sex difference, but even among women, 69% wished they were hit on more. Shoot your shot, folks. — @CostelloWilliam

The latest round of numbers from a right-wing institute posing as a “news organization” are pulled from thin air, relying on “guesses,” and in some cases more than 20 years old! One “source” even says: “This happens in every single state.” Check out how California has been a leader on combatting fraud: StopFraud.ca.gov

SCOOP: Under Gov. Newsom, fraudsters and organized crime rings have stolen at least $180 billion from California's unemployment, healthcare, and welfare programs—the largest financial crime in American history. Welcome to Gavin Newsom's empire of fraud. city-journal.org/article/gavin-…

@Twolfrecovery @CityJournal It’s a combination of there’s not been enough narrative about the problem because the local papers are cheerleaders so public interest is low, along with fixing it involves pissing off unions, NGOs and plaintiffs lawyers all of which are key to winning elections.

In California, roads are crumbling. Mismanaged wildfires have turned neighborhoods into ash. Drug addiction and homelessness have turned parts of Los Angeles and San Francisco into no-go zones. The state continues to spend billions of dollars on social programs. Taxpayers are beginning to ask: Where is all this money going?

@chriswithans Also why so many people work part time or for cash. The programs encourage hiding income and working less. Others just lie and the state doesn’t look. It’s all terribly designed.

California's minimum wage is now $16.90 an hour. If you work 30 hours a week for 50 weeks a year, you're making $25,350. That excludes you from having Medicaid if you're single ($22,025). If you and/or you and your spouse work a combined 2000 hours, you're at $33,800 and you can't even get Medicaid in a 2 person household. If you make a low-for-California $23 an hour at 2000 hours, you're excluded from Medicaid even with 2 adult/2 children or 1 adult/3 children. Or at least you should be, by the law. I.e., California's own high minimum wage laws should exclude most people who work from Medicaid. But almost 15 million people, or 37.5% of the population, are on Medicaid in California. Medicaid costs about $13,500 per enrollee, so if just 1 million ineligible people are on Medicaid, that's $13.5 billion. 5 million? That's $67.5 billion per year in 2025 dollars.

EXCLUSIVE: Multiple senior HHS officials estimate that, under Gavin Newsom, California's state Medicaid program has lost 25 percent of its budget to fraud. This would mean it is currently losing $50 billion a year to scammers, fraudsters, and organized crime rings.

@christopherrufo Exactly. Places like California’s Medi-Cal are where AI should replace human jobs. We need systems that can instantly assess the legibility and legitimacy of every reason for distributing funds — instead of losing $50 billion a year to fraudsters and organized crime.

@christopherrufo They heavily reward dishonest and irresponsible people. The more dishonest or irresponsible the higher the reward. Deeply unfair to everyone who is contributing. This cost gets socialized across the middle class in high prices.

California spends $30 billion a year to pay for more than 500,000 people to stay home with family members and cook, clean, do laundry, and watch television. The program mostly operates on the honor system—and loses $6 to $12 billion to fraud each year.

@MoralOverdraft @Twolfrecovery @MattMahanSJ @MattMahanHQ @GavinNewsom when in Sac as Governor will he continue or bow to the pressure of his party and make it more of the same? He doesn't appear to have a backbone to me. Won't grade Newsom, won't specify what he would do different. not talking about lowering costs. just now saying reduce gas tax.

I also just learned today this night be based on how you define income and tax requirements Regardless, even if your after tax income is slightly lower than an LA resident, you still are way richer overall if you live in Nashville than LA, so…
Swann Marcus@SwannMarcus89

I just learned today median after-tax income in LA is thousands of dollars less than Nashville. That’s *before* rent and gas Republicans somehow manage to understate how much progressives fucked up the West Coast. How does anyone survive in Los Angeles?

@SwannMarcus89 IT is phantom UBI And it punishes honest average people the worst. Very talented people are overtaxed but make lots of money. Mediocre but dishonest people do VERY well. Honest average people get screwed, and can have marginal rates over >100% while losing benefits.

@SwannMarcus89 Even worse between those who abuse the systems and those who don't. Dishonesty is extremely lucrative in California. You can enroll in a ton of benefits by working for cash or lying. Also, disability fraud and grey area abuse is also rampant. And fraud seldom punished.

@Izengabe_ it's the new nobility. The very capable make their own money and get taxed 60%+, the middle class gets taxed to the lower class, the lower class gets free shit to stand equal with the middle class, and the public workers do little and get paid almost as well as the rich.

Private sector workers in NY will be tax at 50% & give half their income to the government so NY government bureaucrats can get free childcare at work & retire at 55 with paychecks from taxpayers to do nothing for the rest of their lives. (Oh & NYS pensions are state tax free)
Deva Hazarika@devahaz

About half of current NY government workers are already able to retire at 55 with full benefits after 30 years. This was changed to 63 after 2012. Unions went to roll back that change so everyone can retire at 55 and ALSO lower their pension contribution amounts.
