Excited the last chapter from my phd is finally out! Using empirical data, we show that simple relationships predicting a community's function from its composition emerge as community diversity is increased. Had so much fun working on this! arxiv.org/abs/2403.19372

As one of the last papers to come out of Kevin's lab, I feel like this review is a testament to his enthusiasm and dedication to working on the important biomedical problem of AMR, while highlighting its potential as an exciting context for learning new physics.

Despite only working together for a short time, his support really built up my confidence as a scientist. I will greatly miss his creativity, enthusiasm, and of course his clever jokes to lighten things up. He always knew how to turn a hard problem into something positive.

This has been a very difficult time. Seeing the far reaching impact Kevin had is as comforting as anything can be at the moment, and it shows just a small part of this devastating loss. Kevin was a tremendous advisor, scientist, and friend. gofundme.com/f/support-futu…

You’re the Mayor of Celltown. How do you allocate resources to grow? Do you invest in more mitochondria? ER? Golgi? We studied links among systems-level organelle biogenesis, cell size and growth at single cell resolution with our fun tool: rainbow yeast! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Happy to share our recent work in neonatal T1w-to-T2w image translation! We propose 2 methods for synthesizing anatomically accurate pseudo-T2ws from T1w images and show their efficacy in rs-fMRI analyses; allowing us to recover missing data in neonates. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

When a single bacterial strain evolves into several coexisting ones, how does further evolution affect this fragile alliance? By quantifying its mutational fuel, amazing grad student @jaascensao has just made big step in this direction. @benjaminhgood K Wetmore @AdamArkinLab

The effects of all possible mutations largely shape the adaptive routes available to an organism. But most species coevolve in a community, not alone… so how does adaptive potential depend on (changing) ecological conditions? @ohallats @benjaminhgood K Wetmore @AdamArkinLab 1/

Excited our infant rs-fMRI respiratory filtering paper is finally out! We show that respiratory motion artifact is present in infant/toddler rs-fMRI and can be removed by filtering the FD trace; recovering ~10 minutes of data critical for FC analyses. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
