In Art, Year 1 children have been exploring the work of artist Dennis Creffield. They have been experimenting with compressed charcoal, learning how to create tone, texture, and depth, and have designed their own pattern sheets inspired by his expressive style! Amazing! 🤩

Y6 experienced a hands-on cooking session linked to their learning about Ancient Islamic civilisation this term. The children worked together to prepare a delicious chickpea stew and falafel, exploring traditional ingredients and flavours while developing their cooking skills.

This week, our brilliant Year 6 scientists explored Newton’s theory of light and discovered how we see colours. They used colour filters to see how light can be changed and combined, helping them understand that white light is made up of many different colours. 🌈

R1CB have been feeling very inspired by their book The Hundred Decker Bus! The children have created some impressive observational drawings and used their joining skills from DT to construct a bus, bus stop and sign. Reception have also loved creating buses using clay.

As part of this term’s value, ‘connect’, Reception and Y1 invited their parents and grandparents to spend some time in their classrooms. The children have been reading 'The Hundred Decker Bus' and so they decided to make their own 3D buses! 🚎

Year 3/4 had great fun on their school trip to the STEAM museum. They had a workshop all about the evolution of the railways and enjoyed a fabulous show, "The Order of the North Star", by Prime Theatre. Pupils were even able to ‘buy’ some train tickets from a ticket office.

Nursery had a great time learning about police officers and the different roles within the police force. They got to look inside the boot of a police car and found out what they need to carry at all times.

As part of our learning about the Ancient Islamic Civilisation, Y6 explored the flavours of West Asia in DT. They made a delicious apricot & honey labneh. After tasting, pupils carefully identified different flavours & textures then rated it using their own evaluation criteria.

Y6 had a visit from PCSO Shelley today! The children learned all about the age of responsibility, how to be a good citizen, and ways to stay safe in the community & online. They also had important discussions about respecting others, online behaviour & standing up to bullying.

Yesterday, we visited church for our annual Christmas Carol Service 🎄✨ The singing was beautiful & the children’s behaviour was impeccable throughout. We are so proud of our pupils & the way they represented our school yesterday. A truly special moment - proud to be Moredon. ❤️

Our pupils were treated to a fantastic percussion performance from Swindon Music Services today! They loved discovering the different sounds and rhythms, and even learnt about the history of drums. The ‘grand finale’ had everyone singing along!🎵
