John Collins turned down a very big contract extension in hopes of getting a max from all the reporting. Is he a max player? Probably not. Challenge with that is that there are more teams with cap space than max players this summer. As the old saying goes: "It only takes one."
Again, who cares about the assets? If it's a low first round pick what's the difference? If he didn't want Turner and canvassed the league and couldn't move Turner, how is that a mismanagement?
How do you truly know that? A good defender/reb who won't steal shots from the Jays that has championship experience seems like it should help The point is, we don't know, and I'd rather not be strapped with a contract if you can find alternative options that might help the same
