They are dumping hydrogen peroxide into the Reflecting Pool to kill the algae. I remember learning about this in science class. That's not going to fix the problem. A darker pool means more heat, and it's going to cause more algae blooms. a) it's a temporary fix, b) there are ducks in the Reflecting Pool that this will hurt, potentially kill, and c) This is what happens when you fire all the scientists.
