For more than 30 years, Somaliland has built something Somalia still struggles to achieve: a stable, democratic, and peaceful nation. Somaliland held five presidential elections, local council elections, and a constitutional referendum. Somaliland people elect their leaders through the will of the people not through clan deals or chaos. Somaliland has defended its land from terrorists, protected its shores from pirates, and stood tall on its own two feet while the world looked away. Somaliland people just want to breathe the air of freedom they’ve already earned. So, Mr. President of Somalia, how dare you belittle that? Do you even understand what “union” means? Or do you think pretending to be a modern-day Abraham Lincoln will make the world believe your story? Tell us one thing you’ve done that has truly changed your people’s lives for the better.
