I cannot think of a more important skill that (literally everyone) should get better at than learning how to manage your own emotions.
How You Feel ≠ How You Should Act
Sometimes it does, but not nearly as often as we want.
The best version of yourself has that figured out.
The best player on a team should also be the hardest worker on the team.
If you are the best player on your team, you have great influence as a leader. If you work hard and put the team first, your teammates will follow you!
Things you can control in games:
• Effort
• Attitude
• Self-talk
• Attention
• Execution
Things you can’t control in games:
• Winning
• Refs
• Fans
• Your opponent
• Bad luck
• Weather
• The past/future
To play your best, focus only on what you can control.

Nakobe Dean said no teams said anything about pec tendon surgery, & he was surprised to see the issue weigh so heavily in the draft. He traveled to Las Vegas thinking he’d go in the first. Watching his mom’s face as he dropped bothered him. Also “cost me a lot of money,” he said.
