A decision to keep/give Doan a management position obviously would have been up to the cheap owner who was the one who decided not to.

Just listened to yesterdays episode of @spittinchiclets. The boys mentioned how its the worse hiring ever for Toronto for what Chayka did to Doan but moments earlier they talk about Benn being done in Dallas. I understand Dallas is a lot better team then what Arizona was at their respected points in time but its all still business. Jamie Benn has played almost 1,300 games with Dallas and has been a captain for most of them and @BizNasty2point0 talked about how he's not good anymore and they should let him go. How is that any different then the Coyotes situation? Again maybe their was more stuff behind closed doors that I am unaware of but still very similar situations.

On Wednesday August 27th 2025, Davis Schneider was in the starting lineup for the Blue Jays against a RIGHTY starting pitcher. In the two plate appearances he had vs that RHP he hit *two* HR's. That starter was Simeon Woods-Richardson.
Expect 36 in the starting lineup Friday.

@JohnnyGiunta_ Hoffman has given up 16 HR in 70 innings as a Jay. I'd assume a HR every 4.5 innings is as bad as it can get for a reliever in the MLB. That is not lights out. 20% of his save situations he blew.

@JeffMarek Why are you discounting the benefit that a player gets to waive NTC to play for a contender? Schenn could have easily said to Armstrong/Steen last year "I will never waive. never ask me again". He did not. Indications have been that he also waived last year and deal fell through.

Again, asking a player to waive is like saying 'give me something in exchange for nothing'.
More than ever the league + PA should have a conversation about paying players for agreeing to waive no trade/move clauses.

@travisyost US getting worked physically. US stick first at every opportunity. Canadian players were hitting everything that moved and set the tone. It’s funny because US built roster with that objective. If they don’t have their skill guys buy in idk how you compete against elite nations.

I still think a healthy Leafs team can climb up the standings and make the playoffs but now Carlo is out long-term and who knows when Tanev or Stolarz will return. It's bad timing with a difficult December schedule, too. Maybe they can tread water and get healthy, but it's tough.
