We are failing our kids. They are getting injured at alarming rates. And instead of pushing back against the system that is causing this, we are plowing forward. Fuck them kids… and their arms.

We encourage year round baseball and if parents opt out for a season, they lose their spot on the team, playing with their friends. It’s not just “keeping up with Joneses” it’s social pressure too.

Little league elbow should NEVER be referred to as a “common injury” It doesn’t JUST happen, it is the result of overuse and abuse. Parents, Coaches, Organizations DO BETTER

@TewksHitting I’ve had very similar thoughts. Sandlot style baseball.

I want to create a youth diamond sports league where every player gets a reversible jersey, two teams show up but there is a "draft" before the game to determine teams for that game, any bat brought to the field is able to be used by any player, teams share the same dugout.

If you’re good at baseball it’s fun to play it every weekend. The problem is it’s better for your long-term career if you take breaks so you can train harder in the gym. If a parent or coach explains this to the player, and they’re “serious”, then they’ll jump at the opportunity.

I need to understand how these things happen at amateur games... Am I crazy to think that there is nothing that could happen in a kids baseball game, whether it be a blown call from an umpire, or anything else for that matter, that could warrant this behavior from two adults? The purpose of that baseball game was strictly development - whether anyone understands that or not - regardless of whether there was a championship on the line, or anything else for that matter. How do we get to this point?
