Got up this morning and had three of these Large Red Underwings on the house - nice big moth with . . . wait for it . . . red underwings . Common and spreading northwards - unfortunately it’s caterpillars have munched my willow saplings @savebutterflies @MothMighty

@Gardening_Miss @Love_plants These are Inkcaps. Inkcaps tend to be brown or grey, with dark gills as the spores are black. Waxcaps always have white spores, so tend to have pale and waxy gills. They are often bright colours like orange, red and yellow. Hope this helps.
