Motts Lane Models

Perhaps my favourite image of my modelling so far; 60029/60081 posed on the Cavalex scenic board I made when I was back in the UK last in May. Very pleased with how these have come out, especially 60081 with a few custom mods to represent it as per the last few months in service!

Cavalex Green machine 60081 finished today - really happy with the final result. A few shots of it running round Llanbourne this evening; I’ve modelled it with the yellow ploughs and silver buffers at one end, in its last 6 months or so before it went bang @cavalexmodels

Finished project - Bachmann 90019 in mid 2000s condition. Pretty basic weathering job, although I’ve added new drop head buck eyes, drivers and replaced the glazing with Shawplan LaserGlaze. Of all the models I’ve reglazed, I think this one might make the most difference!

Couple of completed projects - 31190/31452. The two Bachmann examples scrub up nicely post weathering, I’ve also replaced the glazing with Shawplan laserglaze and fitted Modelu drivers post these photos

Completed 56018 at Llanbourne. Annoyingly I’d missed the primer coloured exhaust panel, so a quick masking and touch in followed by a revisit of the exhaust dirt finished the loco off nicely! The full process can be read via my article in the latest @DemuShowcase update

Harefield is out tomorrow for the Chesham show. Lots to do in the morning. Got the bridge built just in time too. A lot of changes since the Rapido Railex show which improve it, inc being 4ft longer!

Continuing last year's theme of replace-and-repaint with 455s and 456s, 2025 is set to be the year of the 319. Two Bratchell kits are now assembled, fettled, and primed to outshop in CityMetro and CityFlyer Thameslink blue. A repaint then beckons for my now 8-yr old (!) original

I didn't intend to be hacking 456024 about again so soon, but we now have recessed headlights, finer jumper cable covers, and a slightly better colour match on the faded blue skirt. Time to put these 456s down and do something else!
