Tragic story of Jamey Carney (43), an American mother in Ireland. In her recent video BELOW, Jamey—wearing a pink hijab—spoke with visible joy and tears about converting to Islam just weeks earlier. She expressed deep gratitude to the Muslim community for their overwhelming kindness and support, saying she felt she had “always been Muslim” in her heart. She called Muslims her “sisters and brothers,” highlighted the love and warmth she received despite the hate they face, and described feeling incredibly lucky and happy. She mentioned being overwhelmed by beautiful messages and struggling to reply to everyone due to time constraints, ending warmly. Tragically, this elation turned to horror. Jamey was allegedly beaten and suffocated to death in her Killarney home by her boyfriend, Ahmad Al-Saqar (28), a Jordanian asylum seeker. Her 13-year-old daughter tragically discovered her body. Al-Saqar fled Ireland shortly after (to Turkey, with fears he may head to Jordan or Syria). This heartbreaking case has sparked widespread discussion about personal relationships, conversions, immigration, and safety. Jamey’s family remembers her as a kind, humanitarian soul who loved Ireland. RIP to Jamey—may her daughter find strength and justice be served. Such stories remind us that behind online joy and ideals can lie devastating real-world risks.
