There’s a feeling that’s hard to put into words when no one can tell you where to be, what to do, or how to live your life… when your time is finally your own, till the end of time. Back when I was 23 grinding at Apple, I watched people spend years climbing the ladder. Promotions, titles, bigger teams. It seemed like everyone looked up to these people and for me, I remember always thinking, why? Why trade mornings with your kids for meetings? Why miss dinners at home for deadlines that won’t matter in 10 years? Why give your best energy to a company that won’t be there holding your hand on your deathbed? That never felt like freedom to me. Despite the amount of $ I was making, I never truly felt fulfilled. Freedom, to me, was always about control. Being present with my family, choosing how I spend my hours, building something that pays me while I’m living my life, instead of being stuck behind a desk slaving away for someone else’s dream. Being my own boss. Making $ on the go. Showing up for my kids whenever they need or want me. That used to be the dream. Now it’s my reality. And now, the same people who doubted me, who thought I was crazy for stepping off the “safe” path, now ask how I did it. They want to learn. They want to be around me. They want the same freedom that I earned. I’m special, I’m blessed, I’m different. And I’m really proud to say it bc I don’t know anyone living the life I live. I bet on my time instead of a title. Financial freedom to me isn’t about yachts, fancy, popping bottles, materialistic things. For me it’s about ownership of my time, not being dependent on anyone, and doing things that fulfill my heart, my own way. It’s about waking up without an alarm and knowing the entire day belongs to me. It’s about being present for the moments that actually matter. Because in the end, no title, no office, and no paycheck replaces the experiences you have and will remember in the one life you have.
