NETWORK is one of the most prescient films ever made. Peter Finch’s “mad as hell” speech was so intense Sidney Lumet only shot one and a half takes; Finch pushed himself so hard that he reportedly collapsed from exhaustion partway through the second.

It may be a crime to watch this movie in the evening instead of Saturday morning. Fantasy was Ray Harryhausen's big passion. Although the film's director Nathan Juran was famous for sci-fi movies. And Bernard Herrmann was perhaps the best American composer at the time.

Tura Satana on Russ Meyer's love for b00bs & his feminist worldview: "He loved the big b00bs, and anybody he found that had b00bs bigger or better was there. But Russ always had this special respect for women. When we were on location, there were certain rules. I think I'm the only one who broke his rule about no sex on the set. I would say he was a feminist. He loved to make women look good. I have never seen any of the gals in his films look bad. And the men in his movies were always incapacitated in some way. They were either in a wheelchair or on crutches or short of a full deck. He liked to make women strong, make them feel that they were empowered. [He wanted to glorify women] And he always made sure there was a moral. The good always won out over evil. You will find that in any of his films." ("The Man Who Really, Really Loved Women", Chris Gore, 2004) Remembering Russ Meyer, on his 104th birthday! Clip from: Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965) Director: Russ Meyer

Fun fact! James Baskett auditioned for the main three animated characters in Song of the South, not just a butterfly like many have claimed. He got the role of Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit for certain scenes, but it wasn't until he met Walt Disney that he got the role of Uncle Remus!

Godzilla’s landfall to Ginza in ‘Godzilla Minus One’ is one of the most memorable moments in the entire franchise. Its played out so well depicting the destruction of his arrival & the chaos that follows. Nothing is safe in the path of the raged king. Noriko’s reaction to seeing Godzilla for the first time is perfectly shown of the horrors she’s witnessing in the district.

The arrival of the Cyclops in The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958). It will likely remain the best cyclops of cinema. After Mighty Joe Young none of Harryhausen's movies were even nominated for an Oscar but it really deserved it. Instead it was another George Pal movie, Tom Thumb.

@BeautifulBill you writing a negative screed on Chuck Norris is akin to a four-year-old tone-deaf untalented kazoo player criticizing Mozart. If, as George Orwell wrote in “1984”, “Ignorance is bliss”, then you must be a very happy….whatever you are…. @Variety fire this nitwit.
