I'm Christian. I am extremely well read in the classics, philosophy, social and psych theory, and many other insightful historical perspectives. It was not until the past few years when I recognized that Christianity, while serving many purposes, provides a template for basic species survival. It doesn't matter to me personally, but Christianity is evolutionarily advantageous from a secular angle, because it impacts the species across more than an individual lifetime. We get caught up in our own lives, and the future of our species becomes less secure in the decisions we make. Christianity is like the instructions left next to a petri dish for a lab tech to follow for the culture to flourish.

@lukedsimmons Interesting. Usually it's the other way around, marriage first then baptism. I don't know how you would get baptized while still cohabiting or living in sin.

A few weeks back we baptized a 92 year-old man and a 91 year-old woman. This afternoon I’m officiating their wedding, as they no longer want to cohabitate. It’s never too late to repent and find the good life in Jesus.

God is incredibly patient with us.

Think about the people we meet on a day to day basis. Are there opportunities for you be be a reassuring presence for anyone? Perhaps a smile and a quick hello is all that it would take. May we all meet an angel on the road. May we all seek to be an angel for someone else. 11.

I feel compelled to share this sweet story to encourage you in Christ. In 2019 we had a hot summer, I mean it was really hot.. I think 117 that week and we headed out in our truck/trailer to pick up a steer we had to get that day or it wouldn’t work. We left early but it took a while to get there so we got there in the hottest part of the day. On the drive back my truck broke down and we were in the middle of nowhere with terrible reception. We do have AAA but it was so hot and it was probably going to take a long time so I started to panic. As I started to cry in fear for the steer and the fact that we had no water left for him or ourselves and it was SO hot, I started to pray through a panic attack and when I say INSTANTLY I mean within 1 min of praying a man in a tow truck pulled up behind us (we hadn’t called a tow truck yet!) and didn’t even ask “what’s wrong” he just walked up to the side of the truck and told my husband to unhook the trailer and they would push it back and he would tow us back to our house that was 60 miles away. We left the truck and later had it towed but this man drove us, had an ice chest full of water bottles, and helped us unload and then refused any payment. God takes care of his children in big or small things. Pray and trust Him… He cares for the birds (steers) how much more does he care for you!❤️

@nicksortor Ask him very simply to reveal himself to you. He might do that in a surprising way, but it’s always just exactly what we need☺️Others have given good advice. After the Bible, I’d recommend reading Mere Christianity-CS Lewis & then watching The Chosen series (on the Chosen app) 🙏🏻

I think I need God in my life. But I have no idea how the hell to do that. Especially as someone that is naturally skeptical of literally everything. Any tips?

.@SamaritansPurse gave me a Bible a couple of months ago here in Lahaina when I reached out to them for help after struggling with this situation. I’ve kept it with me and protected it ever since even after multiple flights around the world. I will finally open it. I just need to know where to start. Samaritans Purse are truly some of the best people on the Earth. What they did for the people here on Maui is unmatched.
