0-0 curveballs have the highest run value out of all pitches, when thrown in zone. Why? Because it is a FREE strike. Curveballs are swung at just 23% of the time in 0-0 counts when it is IN ZONE. All 0-0 curveballs? Only 15% swings. Knowing this, if you can't land a curveball, it probably isn't a good 0-0 option for you. Understand what pitches you can land and can't. Understand what pitches you are trying to get swings on and which ones you are trying to get takes. Knowing who you are and the purpose behind each pitch is vital to your success.

⚠️ Slider Development ● HS pitcher throws a curveball and a slider ● 1st picture below is his "slider" ● Too on top of the ball since he's throwing both breaking balls ● We worked on staying through the side of the ball by thinking fastball with right edge @pitchlogic

Players and parents to understand/buy into is the role of strength training in their development. Hitting lessons are great, but if you're 16 years old, weigh 135 lbs, can't bench 135, run a 7.5 60, hitting lessons ain't the missing link.

In the Fall of '22, I finally got involved in the wonderful world of travel ball with one softball team. Started baseball in the Fall of '23. In the Fall of '25, our softball director has us at six softball teams, and we have eleven baseball teams. The hardest thing to get......

Just have to understand how it's best utilized. But in saying that, you don't just add another pitch if what you're doing is working. The game has a way of letting you know when it's time to make a change. Sometimes, it's as simple as the thought process on a pitch.

This is something I see often in amateur pitchers, which will work fine against young hitters......especially if the pitches are above average for the level. Problem usually arises against better competition. No one chasing your breaking ball? Doesn't mean it's not a good pitch
