I’ve collected a lot of art, but this one hits different. First, it’s from a master. @mpkoz is one of the very few blending generative systems with physical craft at this level. Second, as a generative artist, I deeply respect the work behind building an algorithm that produces something that feels organic. That’s rare. And lastly, this is my grail from the first Zero10 exhibition at Art Basel. Years from now, moments like this might feel “normal.” They’re not. This was a turning point, a glimpse of what we’ve all been dreaming about. That context is part of the piece for me. Thank you Michael for creating this for me and @MrsArsonic. Our home is ready to welcome a piece of history.

Tessellations by Michael Kozlowski @mpkoz first presented and sold out at Miami Art Basel @ArtBasel now available in three sizes for very limited commissions in copper or bronze and custom hardwood frame. DM to inquire, more here: The process in the Tesselations algorithm (tiling, recursion, subdivision) consciously parallels the design practices of ancient artisans and architects, who developed rule-based geometric methods long before computation became electronic. These ‘sacred geometries’ are updated with the complex systems of Kozlowski’s generative code into intricate and idiosyncratic interpretations of these essential patterns. Each wall sculpture in this series begins as a unique tessellated pattern generated by his algorithm, which is then 3D printed in resin, metal coated, and framed in walnut. These works are accompanied by their algorithmic source artwork in the form of digital art NFTs.
