@Edmund_B_W As a Headteacher, I am furious. Not because I’m ’in the window’, because I’m not. But because this is absolutely the wrong decision. All a single judgement does is put indescribable pressure on headteachers that the success school, kids, house prices etc rest on one word.

I’ve read the government’s response to the Select Committee’s Inquiry into Ofsted’s Work with Schools, and it is the most pathetic excuse for can-kicking inaction I have ever seen. It is an absence of a response, a vacuum of responsibility, a void of accountability…

Inspections going forward . All I want is: 1. Primary inspectors for primaries 2. EYFS specialists for eyfs inspections 3. A primary framework 4. A small school framework 5. More notice 6. Removal of one word judgements 7. Separate annual safeguarding checks 8. Consistency

@NickLowryEd @ScottPughsley We’re budgeting for 3.5%. However the last 6.5% increase was only funded up to 3.5%, with schools paying the rest. And yet the DfE claim it was fully funded. Ridiculous. Expecting more of the same this time around.

@Headteacherchat I pay my staff if they have sick children. Family if far more important than work, and find staff feel sorted by this and with often have found alternative arrangements within the first day or at most two.

Anon post: Do you have any advice on how to handle time off work when staff members have sick children? My local authority policy states that it should be unpaid leave, as does the Department for Education guidance.

@marcrowland73 @roy_blatchford As the head of a small primary, in agree with this list, but also observe that pretty much all of the list require the school funding crisis to be addressed as a prerequisite, especially in the primary sector where schools receive nearly 50% less funding than secondary per pupil.

@Headteacherchat Off the top of my head: Meet and reassure your staff. Contact your LA or MAT immediately for support. Check what your insurance situation is. Inform parents, being as honest as possible whilst protecting your HTs right to privacy. Continue with current SDP (at least for now).
