This is the Phanatic Colonial bobblehead being given out today to fans 14 and under for his birthday. This is one of the best bobbleheads they’ve ever done. @OnPattison

It’s time for us to get cell phones out of the classroom and create a healthier environment for both our teachers and our kids. That’s why I called on the State Legislature to send a bill to my desk requiring our schools to implement a “bell-to-bell” cell phone ban, limiting distractions so that our teachers and students can focus on their learning. Our teachers, parents, and kids need us. Let’s get it done.

No matter how long I live after we get through this dark chapter, I will never get over the immorality, the amorality, the corruption, the criminality and the cruelty in service to one of the worst humans to ever walk the earth.

A school that bans phones but keeps kids on Chromebooks for half the day are a bit confused about the problem. This just reinforces the fractured attention span kickstarted by the phone in the first place. Get them off the screens and into a book. You’re not sacrificing their ability to be ready for the future by doing so; you’re enabling them to learn in the present.

If you’ve not read this, read it. If you’ve read it, read it again. If you know someone who hasn’t read it, get them to read it. Just get it and read it. Then read it some more.

@SoLInTheWild I love these strategies. I want to repay the favor of sharing, if you’re interested, I can share a presentation I have to teachers about TWR when I was an instructional coach.

My students write every day but these strategies will make their writing far more purposeful and intentional. Not writing for writing’s sake, a poor proxy for learning, but writing evidence shows directly supports content knowledge, reading comprehension, and long-term memory.

“If you weave these sentence-level activities into your instruction on a daily basis, you'll be giving your students the tools they need to create effective paragraphs and compositions, while at the same time boosting their understanding of the content you're teaching.” 🤯📝✍️

@SoLInTheWild Thanks so much! This is incredible. Could you elaborate on the Enriching Understanding with appositives and the Thinking and Linking grid? Is this the "format" that most of your booklets have?

Adding this template in student booklets to make Read–Write–Discuss–Revise more focused and intentional. The discussion note stems are key because most students aren’t used to capturing what they heard, new perspectives, or shifts in thinking, so I’m making those moves explicit.

Unbelievable @YouTubeTV is making people manually claim their $20 credit rather than automatically deduct it from their bill. So for the people who don’t click the link and claim the credit you’re just going to take their money for ESPN/Disney and pocket that? Losing respect for everyone involved with this dispute.
