The voting age was lowered in 1969 from 21 to 18 under Labour. It’s now being lowerred from 18 to 16 under Labour. We need a Political Party that will repeal the 1969 act and restore the minimum age to 21. Stop infantilising the electorate.

@JRtypes We are all stakeholders of different priorities throughout our lives. 16 year olds will turn 18 during the next g'ment & are subject to policies they had no choice in. Some policies disproportionately affect the young. Just like working families have different priorities.

@not3bad @cathervne @owenjonesjourno @Otto_English My argument starts with what was the choice available in my area, Greens won 2% of the vote, Liberal 6%. Anything other than Labour would have been a protest vote. No independent ran.

@cathervne @MrDavidColey @owenjonesjourno @Otto_English The Green Party finished 2nd in 39 constituencies in 2024. It would not take many changes of votes for the Greens to have far more MP's. Also, Independents like Leanne Mohammed came within 500 votes of victory. So your argument's a non starter.
