@JonA2i Any helo solution has to be in the right place at the right time and get its geometry right. A fast jet solution covers much more area and is more reactive for multi access threats.

Earlier today, I suggestd that the US Navy had culminated x.com/gregbagwell/st…, it is beginning to look as if the USAF may have too. A combination of Iranian strikes on bases, reduced weapon stocks and fewer targets could mean that we are seeing a new phase of the War.

The absence of any meaningful USN presence in harms way around the SoH, or in the Gulf itself, suggests that concern about the impact of any losses is now dominating maritime strategy to one of stand off only. Sea control has not been achieved despite the attacks on Iran’s Navy.

Whichever of these two circumstances occurred, either one demonstrates that the Campaign is not going well. Either the US/Israeli strategy is diverging, or Trump is unable to control escalation. Clausewitz would say that Trump failed to understand the kind of War he was waging.

All is not well within the US & Israeli alliance - the targeting philosophy is not aligned, and, it would appear from this, targets are not being shared. It is symptomatic of the two allies having a fundamentally different strategy and desired outcome. Who is in charge?

2/2 But, if as reported elsewhere, Trump knew about the attack and “approved” it to try and open the SoH, then the Iranian retaliation last night has worked in getting him to back down. Trump thinks he is in control, but it’s Israel and Iran that are controlling the escalation.
