Before and after year 4

@MandSnews I like this idea. As a ‘stammerer’, I’ve found that the heightened anxiety around worrying what other people will be thinking only makes the stammer worse. Anything that conveys to colleagues and clients that they need to be patient is one less barrier to be hurdled. 👏👏

Our colleague Megan has come up with a fantastic Straight to Stuart idea we’re pleased to be putting into action. All our colleagues with a stammer or speech impediment can now add a symbol onto their name badge – letting customers know they need more time.

I’ve been having a think about word problems, including what children find difficult and how to address those difficulties. Although they aren’t revolutionary, here are a few thoughts, suggestions and ideas:

It turns out that we learn more if we hear things in a story. This insight is very helpful for us as we develop the curriculum. If we want our pupils to know more, remember more and be able to do more in every subject, then let’s find a great text!
