I was on a Level B contract in 2018, before a "career interruption" detonated what was then a promising academic career. It never recovered, in fact my career has gone backwards. I am now on a Level A fixed-term contract, in 2026, almost a decade after finishing my PhD. The university sector is rife with cronyism, jobs for mates and different treatment for men and women, particularly those who choose to become mothers.
