@SemesterTV @Dr_DewSweep Completely agree with that (the Bryson armlock is a weird grey area for me). My argument is more that anchoring your putter can be an unfair advantage and since it’s difficult to enforce that rule with broomstick putters, they should be outlawed.
English

@MrJonesLLC @Dr_DewSweep It's not an advantage if anyone has the ability to use it. I don't find it any different than bryson being able to arm lock. If everyone has the ability to use it then it should be fair game.

@OrealistMarcus @Dr_DewSweep Adam Scott won the masters using one, Akshay Bhatia, Bernhard Langer… but really it’s irrelevant whether or not they give you an edge. Anchoring your putter is against the rules and it’s hard to enforce with broomstick putters because you can’t really tell
English

@MrJonesLLC @Dr_DewSweep These putters are no edge, who has won using one?
English

@xforedadsgolf @Dr_DewSweep Yes, completely legal before 2016. Here’s the best way I’ve found for their rule explanation: Trying to keep the traditional (free swinging) stroke alive and that it can create an unfair advantage by taking the athletic aspect out of putting

English

@MrJonesLLC @Dr_DewSweep So it technically was legal until 2016? Why make it a rule if it never was one in the first place?
English

@xforedadsgolf @Dr_DewSweep The long/broomstick putters have always been legal but “anchoring” it to your chest became illegal in 2016. Prior to that guys like Langer & Adam Scott (2013 Masters champ using broomstick) weren’t breaking the rules. I think people started using them as early as the late 80’s
English

@MrJonesLLC @Dr_DewSweep Why was Langer able to use it? Was there a rule for it back then? (Genuinely asking)

@xforedadsgolf @Dr_DewSweep Call me a pursuit but I prefer to follow the rules and traditions of this great game - Anchoring goes against that, whether it’s easier or not
English

@MrJonesLLC @Dr_DewSweep So just let them anchor. It’s not a big deal. If it were really easy, everyone would do this.
English

@xforedadsgolf @Dr_DewSweep It’s practically impossible to police whether or not they’re anchoring and personally I find it pretty lame. These guys are typically so bad at putting normally they have to resort to this.
English

I will not allow someone who anchors their putter to win this tournament #cuttheschmid
