I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

This is a really thoughtful reflection. I didn’t intend to watch the whole thing, but I ended up doing it anyway.
AI is like playing a hard game you can’t beat with cheat codes on. It’s amazing at first, but it becomes boring very quickly.
But worse than that, it does something to your brain that ruins the game. If you turn the cheat codes off, you become acutely aware that you’re now struggling unnecessarily. You can’t forget how easy it was, but you don’t want it to be that easy because it takes all the fun out of it, but now the inability to unsee what you’ve seen creates a tension that causes you to lose interest in even continuing to play.
The magic is gone. You’ve broken the spell.
AI is doing this to life. And the societal consequences are going to be enormous.

James Chai has more integrity and patriotism in his little finger than most Ministers have in their entire body.
Anyone is free to look up his public profile - he is a world-class intellect who has spent a lot of time on public service, when he could easily have made more money doing other stuff.
This dragging of his name and personal details in the media, as if he's some criminal evading the law (versus doing great work in Cambridge), is absolutely disgusting.

The attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States are illegal, unprovoked and unjustifiable.
Peace and diplomacy was possible. Instead, Israel and the United States chose war.
This is the behaviour of rogue states — and they have jeopardised the safety of humankind around the world with this catastrophic act of aggression.

I'll go one step further. There are many recorded instances in medieval manuscripts where Muslims and Christians treated each other with respect, lived peacefully and worked together. The idea that their history has always been one of conflict is a fiction created by yt racists.

Thank you Jeff, for solving the mystery of why people interested in making toys no longer visit my website.
It was a puzzle why, recently, traffic fell to zero - since my website had always been a helpful resource to answer questions about toy making.
The interested individuals would read a few Q and A's and often email me and I could work with them to make toys.
Now all that is gone. I didn't know where it went or why it disappeared.
It's because you scraped my website and used my work to build an AI based system that cuts me off.
