Fell in love with the tube map as a youngster in London - love the thrill of designing rail diagrams. Shop for printed maps at: https://t.co/D5krgpYmx2…

Map query: I'm doing some research and this map seems to suggest on this lo-rez image that the line from King's Cross to King's Lynn is called the Fenline (circled in red). Is this correct? I thought Fenline was just Cambridge to King's Lynn.

First ride in a class 730 London Northwestern railway 10-car train, pretty quiet at 09:00, nice walk through, but why o why do they instal disappointing hard seats with no thigh support?

@boys_nicholas @createstreets I quite liked this view of the railway tracks from my daughter's student flat in Vauxhall looking towards Nine Elms.

There’s one block which is decent. The rest is risible. An utterly squandered opportunity. A cornucopia cast aside. What might the Victorians have done with this? And planners & politicians, developers & architects wonder why people are NIMBYs….

On a train heading out of London for a trip to England. Thought I’d show you the architectural dross that is Nine Elms. Possibly the most poorly designed, most devoid of character, devoid of personality area in London. If you can bear to watch to the end, there is a glimpse of an architectural masterpiece amongst it all though.

@MrMappy You’re very welcome! You make the greatest map of the UK rail network ever made, by far, especially of the London area. I use it almost every day. It doesn’t get enough credit

@MrMappy This is tweet 2/2 This is the 1 omission; there is still a single passenger service per day using the west curve (platform 3) at Earlestown station. It’s near impossible to see this from the recent timetables pdfs alone, but on any journey planner it shows up.

@MrMappy it's never made sense that a fully functioning railway line through a huge urban area has never been open to passengers.

CrossCountry sliding through the snowy Stone landscape this morning as the sun rises to add orange to the colour palette. Not many electric trains though.

Moseley Village station looking nearly complete, signage up and lighting on. What’s the chances of it opening on time? Although that’s a moving goal post!
