David Peterson, realistically, is what a June SP trade looks like. It's hard to get excited about this kind of deal when you're backed into a corner - giving up a real prospect for a maybe-average-if-everything-goes-right rental. But this was best Cubs could hope for right now.
@adamwetrust@found_it_funny You can’t end racism, because you can’t control people’s thoughts. But you can make it far less prevalent by not talking about it, the less you talk about something the less power and influence it has. The large media outlets intentionally stir the pot because it gets clicks.
@AaronLemingNFL Both guys couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat, but Romo is at least a quality defender whereas Quero is one of the worst defensive catchers in the league
The Blue Jays (37-38) arrived at Midway shortly before 9pm yesterday. They are coming off a 3-game road sweep of Red Sox.
Blue Jays Probables:
•Kevin Gausman (4-4, 3.41) (R)
•Patrick Corbin (2-3, 4.57) (L)
•Dylan Cease (4-3, 2.71) (R)
@capihood@Cubs Look at the stats together.
Nico has a great xBA which tells you that his low BABIP is an extreme outlier.
Dansby’s xBA is awful which tells you that his low BABIP is representative of a bad process.
Good process with bad results
Vs
Bad process with bad results
@MrPolichi@Cubs Well... One metric shows Nico has been more unlucky, another says he hasn't.
Neither one of them hold more value than the other.
They both have been unlucky, but you're making excuses for Nico and burying Swanson...
They both need to sit more.
@capihood@Cubs Nico xBA is .293
Dansby xBA is .187
Nico’s average is SIXTY points worse than expected, Dansby’s is 12 points worse than expected. Lumping them together is intellectually dishonest and disrespectful to Nico whose underlying metrics are all in line with his career norms.
@MrPolichi@Cubs Nico has a .239 BABIP... Swanson's BABIP is even lower at .208.
So, you can't really claim Nico is unlucky and act like Swanson hasn't been unlucky at all.
Both of them have slumped the same way.
@capihood@Cubs Nico’s situation is not remotely similar, he’s statistically one of the most unlucky players in the sport this year, and he’s slumping right now so it feels worse than it is. Dansby has just been bad no matter how you look at it, still a very valuable role player tho.
@capihood@Cubs This is actually a matchup where dansby should be playing, the issue is that he’s playing every day against bad match ups where he’s essentially being set up to fail.
@Padres Lonely feeling for an outfielder when you get one of those, the only thought that goes through your head “oh fuck” and then you have to haul ass 😂
@BuschMVP My point is that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, he will be fine (and it’ll probably happen soon).
Dansby on the other hand is simply not one of the 9 best players on this team and shouldn’t be playing nearly as much.
Nico Hoerner having a 50 WRC+ since the beginning of May is definitely not ideal…
Might be a big reason this team is one of the worst overall offenses with RISP.
Hoerner last season with RISP: .371/.424/.457, 149 WRC+
Hoerner this season with RISP: .227/.295/.307, 70 WRC+
Still, it is June, but this is a concerning sign for a player that you need to perform for your club to be good.
