This is a project I’ve been working on that combines ball tracking with #VirtualReality I was familiar with both technologies from previous work - ball tracking from NBA Baller Beats and VR from Oculus - but it has still been a challenge to combine them well.

Embodied passthrough AR like this looks amazing. @tovanbo’s Cubism nails spatial manipulation using your hands and this is looking like it’s going to highlight another new capability unique to XR: full roomscale head/hand movement by turning your room into an obstacle course

If you’re working with hand tracking on Quest then you need to check out the new Interaction SDK which just had its first release. Lots of difficult problems made easy eg. keeping avatar fingers on the surface of grabbed objects. Congrats @dannyaroslavski, @AlexDufetel and co!

Exciting to see: headset feedback AKA vibrating the headset(!) + eye tracking + adaptive force feedback triggers + controller design that allows hand to get closer. Tether is a negative but console ease of use makes this pretty appealing, if you have a PS5 blog.playstation.com/2022/01/04/pla…

Just finished a polish pass with a new gun model (loosely based on a Desert Eagle), animations/SFX/haptics/recoil and a physics enabled casing being ejected. They're also low gravity so you can throw/spin them during reloads for style points. Try it here: oculus.com/vr/50326684534…

@John_Westra @HorizonWorlds The same way you dodge bullets in SUPERHOT/PistolWhip/Blaston, by moving your head. At the moment (without extra body trackers) we can only track your head and hands and have to use IK to have the avatar torso follow. Wish we had hip tracking so you could do the Neo backbend…

For example, we now have Local Scripting which runs scripts on the local client so I could make the dotted aiming line more responsive and accurate. We also added Leaderboards so I can track duel wins & losses session to session and give people a reason to come back to the world.
