Worse, inheriting a COMMUNITY treasury and then treats it like a personal piggy bank, paying themselves for doing nothing while demanding applause. The second kind makes no grand promises at all; it’s simply a social meeting place where the only real expectation is camaraderie, laughs, and good times with internet friends. No fake milestones, no manufactured hype, no obligation to “believe harder.” The only capital that actually matters there is social capital. The relationships, the jokes, the shared culture, and the feeling that people want to be there. And here’s the part that always tells the truth: one of these communities is buzzing with activity, conversation, and energy, while the other is a ghost town. Can you guess which is which? Some thoughts from a tradfi bro who can’t resist the wildest market on earth: WTF happened? A whole lot of people just lost a whole lot of money. The catalyst? Trump casually floated 100% tariffs on China, then doubled down and confirmed they’d hit on 11/1. The why: Crypto’s structure makes it uniquely vulnerable. The combination of hyper-speculative gambling and the ease of accessing leverage through platforms like Hyperliquid and other perp DEXs created a perfect setup for cascading liquidations. Once the first cracks appeared, the selloff snowballed into some of the most insane charts I have ever seen. Is this a big deal? Yes. It revealed just how bloated and over-leveraged this market had become, wiping out a mountain of froth. But also no. Markets have seen this movie before. Tariff rhetoric from Trump is often more about optics and posturing than policy follow-through. Gorilla dust. Where do we go from here? Expect volatility. There will be ups and downs but I believe we needed to knock off this extreme froth in order to go higher. Its always been this way and always will be.
