@CovingtonAHS @Kristine_Napper It goes back to what they value and what teachers value. They don’t see the intrinsic worth of just writing and pure thought, but as a task to get them the grade. This is a pan-grade level issue.

A3) I have a lot of middle school Ss who are so used to being told exactly what to write and what to think, they’re truly paralyzed by choice, openness, and subjectivity. I don’t have magic solutions, but I have found some success w/ having… (1/2) #tg2chat

How much trouble would I get my 14yo in if I encouraged him to start asking his teachers the purpose of the homework they assign? Heh.

Middle schoolers made some awesome cartoons about their lives!

Seems to me this could be an analogy for decreasing number of students in a classroom. Just think how much students could grow if they get more time & relationship building with their teacher! “A change in environment can generate some surprising results.”

Power of Pen 🖊 was Awesome! So proud of your hard work! 7th Grade was 4th Place out of 17 teams! 8th Grade had to be super close because the team had 58 points which is AMAZING!!!!
