If it is a perishable item, they have risk too, as it may not sell and be thrown away, so that is a loss, but we won't get into that it may confuse you.

It is not what just happens after that, which you find "immaterial", it is also what happened before that. Do you imagine the item you paid £1 just appeared?

I was explaining to you that the shop is not getting your £1 but about 10 - 15% of it, which is then taxed as income. I hope this explains it clearly enough.

So stick to what I actually say.

You just paid a 20% tax when you spent your wages that had already been taxed. THAT is the problem numbnuts.
