Semien has a great chance to have the worst contract in Mets history. And that covers an awful lot of ground, doesn't it?

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.
People are concerned about paying their mortgage or rent, affording groceries and paying for gas, not about putting together a $1.8 billion fund for the President and his allies to pay whomever they wish with no legal precedent or accountability. This is adding to our national debt. If there needs to be a settlement, the administration should bring it to Congress to decide.

Easily the toughest start of Nolan McLean's career. He departs after 5.2 IP with 9 runs across (only 6 of them were earned).

@SteveGelbs Mets are a different team with Baty at 3rd base, and he’s a different player, why Stearns signed 3 second baseman shows me something

The Mets absolutely poured it on in the 12th, but they never even get that chance if not for the heads-up, aggressive play by Brett Baty in the 11th to get the lead runner Joey Wiemer instead of taking the easy out at first. That was the game right there.

David Stearns’ ideal roster is one built on athleticism: speed, defense, versatility and some big bats mixed in. The promotion of Nick Morabito furthers that vision. Like AJ Ewing, the kid can absolutely fly: 59 SB in 2024, 49 last year and 14 already this season. Youth movement in Queens.

Shannon 🇺🇸I stand with America
You need to read this. I don’t even care if you pass it on. 💥 My husband attended a Private college graduation in the Midwest today. When the audience was asked to stand up and take part in the Pledge of Allegiance- every Musl*m walked out. It was full of Musl*ms. Many of their students are subsidized. If you love this country, this should matter to you deeply on so many levels. That’s the post.

The way Carlos Mendoza spoke about Jorge Polanco just now, it certainly sounds like there’s a real chance this bursitis won’t fully go away this season. The Mets are hoping to get him to a point where he can play through some discomfort, but if he can’t, it sounds like a longer shutdown could be on the table.

The talent is obvious. But the temperament? That may be even more impressive. AJ Ewing’s poise in his debut. Carson Benge’s ability to shake off mistakes and deliver a walk-off. Nolan McLean battling through a shaky first inning and finding a way to go seven. The Mets’ rookies gave them a jolt this week, not just because they’re gifted, but because they already look mentally built for this. Week 7 Mets Check-In:

Nolan McLean is a good pitcher. There’s still a very good possibility he turns into an ace. But he has got to get better at harnessing his stuff, limiting that one big frame and at having shutdown innings. It’s left a lot to be desired.

4 different third basemen. 4 different first basemen (none are actually first basemen, btw). 4 different shortstops. 8 different lieft fielders. 3 different center fielders. 5 different right fielders. Meet the worst team in baseball - the 2026 #Mets.

John Harper
John Harper@NYNJHarper·
Mendoza was pretty straightforward saying Kelly "gave us pitches to hit." Mets did hit some balls hard with little reward but at this point, no excuse. And Soto has to take brunt of blame. Looks out of synch. Talking about it on SportsNite. With @mmargaux8 and @JonAlba
John Harper@NYNJHarper

Considering that Merrill Kelly had been one of the worst pitchers in the majors this season - the opposition was hitting .358, slugging .691 against him - this loss might be the Mets' most feeble offensive performance of the season. Which is saying a lot, obviously.
