@LucyHunterB It would actually harm both bus AND rail services in addition to the massive tax raid (from where?) it would require. SNP economics have always been highly problematic.

@LucyHunterB Totally bonkers & unsustainable - LRT an example of good service and look at their fares for a local service - stupidly costly and will impinge rail travel, with lots of consequences. How can you subsidise travel for all from Wick to rest of Scotland for £2 or every city commute?

@whippletom Cos you never had to get in to the world of planning permission before?

Niche planning request regarding solar panels. I'm afraid it involves the word "curtilage". I wanted to put panels on my roof and garage. It's in a conservation area (but out of sight). I paid £275 for council pre-planning advice. They said....house fine, garage not 1/3

@whippletom Where I am even our vegetable beds must be within my curtilage which was only permitted to be well under half the plot size - work that one out!

@whippletom Every council has their own rules, so no-one else’s advice is any good if not in your area. Councils change their rules, or guidance on adhering to them, as personnel change. One thing I do know is all buildings have to be within your curtilage so your garage must be inside it.

@alexmassie So strange to kick off with that. Yes, I understand the reluctance to forego free at the point of use to all but… France is good but even there the system is creaking at rural GP level, big issues with recruiting. And the patient often has to do the legwork to get joined up care

@blablafishcakes @WingsScotland Absolutely but the problem is how? Labour has hardly stepped up to the plate. They should have an open goal right now. So many people still think the Greens are cuddly ecologists and can’t see past the never ending empty promise of independence from the SNP. They can do no wrong

If you were serious about wanting to win a majority in an election, you would never let Kirsty Blackman represent you on national television two weeks from the vote.

Assuming this means i’ll be able to get the bus from Gourock to Glasgow for £2 now but what does that mean for the viability of Scotrail who charge £9.50 for the same journey? Likewise if I add the Glasgow to Edinburgh leg i’ll be £4 as opposed to £27?

@MightyMightyO1 @WingsScotland The unaccountability is a big thing but also in my experience a fair few do sod all constituency work, no surgeries, don’t respond to requests for help. A good constituency MSP (and there are some) works for their constituents.

@WingsScotland It’s kinda killing the PR argument. It was credible when it was just 2nd hand news from Germany etc, but seeing List MSPs up close and personal in Scotland, who’re nigh on impossible to vote out and unaccountable, is nightmare fuel.

You might think the Scottish Parliament 2021-26 was full of fuckwits, but just you WAIT until you see the remedial kindergarten that the Scottish Parliament 2026-31 is going to be.
Samantha Smith@SamanthaTaghoy

This is Kate Nevens. Kate is a Green Party candidate for the Scottish Parliamentary elections. She is predicted to win. This is a video of Kate saying she wants to abolish prisons and the entire prison system. Yep. All prisons. ALL OF THEM. Do not let this woman into power.

@LucyHunterB It’s a shameful article. Amongst other gems, apparently Trump kicked off the movement to ban males from women’s sport.

@alexmassie Could have replaced the entire fleet for what they’ve paid Pentland Ferries for the Alfred, particularly if they’d had Andrew Banks sourcing the replacements.

@DreyfusJames @WingsScotland Anyone with cancer is vulnerable-sexual orientation has nowt to do with how cancer may affect you & yours. Being poor or disabled might. I’m deeply disappointed in an org. crucial to so many cancer patients. That charity plays such a huge role in cancer care is horrific in itself

Please leave the LGB out of this. We didn’t ask for this. We’re not vulnerable, or fragile. Nor do we need coddling. Most of us are highly resilient, & just want equality. We’ve been through much rougher times. If you mean the TQ+, just say so. Treat us EQUALLY. Thx.

We set up an alert for Mum's house. It sounds impossible that the Land Registry can be conned like this so easily - I thought my sister had gone mad, at first - but here's another story. I only know of it as an England/Wales problem. Scottish lawyers will know the score up here
Barbara Rich@BarbaraRich_law

I have heard similar stories to this by @Gabriel_Pogrund of fraud on the Land Registry and the Probate Registry, of stealing title to an elderly man’s home and forging a will and probate in his lifetime. If you own property, set up a Land Registry alert thetimes.com/uk/crime/artic…

@LynviaHarding @AlisonMoyet Same, early 70s. Furious had to do HE. Was purposefully very bad at any task given. Would have loved a grounding in woodwork and metalwork.

@AlisonMoyet I went to a Grammar School in 1967 and wanted to do woodwork and metalwork but had to take domestic science and needlework! I was not suitably impressed! Still gate cooking and can’t sew!

I can’t pretend not to know the struggles women faced & continue to. In my life time here some subjects were not open to us at school. I needed my father’s signature to open a bank account. In my ‘Hay Day’ my husband was responsible for my tax returns. Memories are so short.

@PensionsMonkey I have sympathy for economics of the argument by there is the huge pot luck of health, and contribution of job to that. There are people who can’t do their current job till their 70s, or who can, sometimes overnight, no longer save due to giving up work for health or carer duties

With the one minor difference that cancer kills, has an objective diagnosis, and doesn’t involve pseudoscientific concepts. But other than that, it’s exactly the same.

And just like that my season has come to an end. Yesterday while racing in the Nations cup at Watersley I was involved in a crash and went over the handlebars. I knew straight away I wouldn’t be able to carry on. Sadly I have broken both wrists but apart from that I am ok, so I won’t be able to race for a while. I just want to say thank you to @TofautiEA for looking after me so well. I am so lucky to have some amazing people helping me and I have had so many calls and messages of support today. I had some amazing opportunities coming up which sadly I have to miss, but I will be back stronger. Ruby X
