Our students got their hands on these brand new LEGO® Education BricQ Motion Sets for Science! They built @LEGO_Group launchers & cars and tested the question, “Does wheel size affect the distance travelled of a Lego car?” Thank you @PeterTrusiak for launching these kits with us!

We learned about the masonry trade today! Students mixed up their mortar, learned the importance of lintels, and how to lay bricks and cradle mortar in this hands-on sugar shack building activity, hosted by @nbcoe

We loved the live ABC workshop format today!

It was incredible to see the size of the equipment that Jerry, a Heavy Equipment Technician specializing in diesel engine repairs, works on in AB. Students had so many fabulous questions for him. They learned that skilled trades get the majority of their training in the field!

Jenna took the time to pop in and give us a glimpse of what a DITL of a Real Estate Agent looks like. We learned who agents work for, how they’re paid and different things she has to take into account when determining the value of a home. She even brought hats for everyone!

I’ve been surprised by the most beautiful hand-picked bouquets lately 💕 Such thoughtful students here in grade 3!

Today we learned about the concrete business and the important (and detailed!) work that Lindsay does at MacLeod General Construction. She even brought these concrete forms and used Lego to show us how they’re used in construction! How cool!

Students were so excited to meet Colin Smith (in real life!) and show him how his work inspired their collaborative art project. They had questions about his technique for drawing trees and learned a bit about the projects he’s working on now. Thank you for inspiring us, Colin!

A huge thank you to Maria for joining us last week to discuss her career as an Early Childhood Educator. We learned why she loves her job and imagined just how much patience one would need to work in the infant room, where Maria works each day.

I came over to see the beautiful art that grades 3-5 were making at recess and was instead corrected and welcomed to a restaurant with chefs, servers and host(esses). What imagination!

Students worked several weeks on this collaborative art project, inspired by Colin Smith’s “1 KM of Florenceville.”Gr. 3 called their piece “1 KM of Centreville.” They represented each building between HSF and MetalFab. This is a 5 panel piece. 4-5 ss worked together per panel.
