@DavidNautilus1 So much can be solved with calm, open communication.

I receive a call from our receptionist, a parent has arrived and is very cross.
I'm unsure, but I head down to greet her and welcome her to my office.
She's really upset. She points the finger at school. It's all our fault and her heart is on her sleeve.
This is hard.
I offer her a seat. I sit next to her, not behind my desk, I listen and I see the opportunity.
And then I agree with her.
She's surprised. After talking to her friends the night before on Facebook, she didn't expect this.
As we talk, things calm and we see that this is not the fault of anyone. We find common ground and agree on things. She even smiles and tells me that 'he's no angel either'.
As she leaves, I let her know that I will find out more and then call her to talk again. She thanks me.
I'm reminded that it's hard to know the best way when your child means so much to you.

@MrZachG I just posted something similar. And I don’t believe teachers do this intentionally. I think it takes seeing yourself teaching and/or others in a peer visit to understand what it’s like when students “sit and get” majority of the time.

Are we making our students sit through “staff meeting” type of instruction five days a week and then wondering why we see so many “behaviors” and apathy from them? This article is insightful! #studentcenteredteaching catlintucker.com/2022/10/class-…

I was inspired to read the comments in this thread. Although teaching expertise matters, strong relationships are priority for parents. My passion are those authentic connections - caring comes first!

As a #parent what is the number one thing you look for a teacher for your child? #education

Poorly delivered feedback can make things worse not better, so coaches need to understand the nuances of feedback. This article is my latest thinking on the topic: ascd.org/el/articles/sh…

@natabasso @RosePillay1 …as long as they understand the PURPOSE of a CFA. If not, neither the data sheet or the circle meeting will make a damn bit of difference. “Where” the data lives isn’t the issue. The WHY of CFAs is everything. Be Ruthless. #StartWithTheCROWN #RuthlessEquity #Equity #atplc

SO. I asked a question and was honestly not prepared for the amount of feedback.
I hope other instructional coaches out there get a chance to go through some of these responses. Very informative.
