Nature self portraits may be my new favourite way of doing self portraits. One student even included the gap in her teeth in her self portrait! #sd36learn #grade1

When Chapters has a 20% teacher sale, I tend to go a little book-buying crazy. Needless to say, I’m excited to add these diverse picture books to my read aloud collection.

Real talk: Teaching blended learning is hard. I’m constantly questioning my teaching skills and whether I’m doing enough to support my students. But when I get these type of messages from my students, I am reminded that the work that I do is important and makes a difference.

@j_minci I’ve heard of wet felting but I need to look more into how to do it! I’m definitely interested in doing it with my students one day.

@MsSophiaLe Have you thought about wet felting wit your kids? It’s pretty easy to cover rocks or something small like that!

Summer project: making needle felted story mats for story workshop. Not sure if sts will use these in a Covid classroom but I remain hopeful that in the near future, my sts will find inspiration and joy in creating stories from these mats. #needlefelting #sd36learn

In #outdoorlearning today, Grade 1&2s created their own forest perfumes. Students asked questions, made comparisons, and honed in their senses. #sd36learn

One of my favourite activities that incorporates the #corecompetencies, writing, and art! “Ms.Le, I’m being careful like Salmon!” Students are living and breathing the core competencies #sd36learn

@msledlin Thank you so much for sharing your story workshop template, Melanie! The students did so well using the new format to record their stories.

#storyworkshop continues to be a classroom favourite! This week, we focused on creating a detailed setting in our stories. Prison castles, snowy mountains, and underwater worlds helped to spark creativity in our stories.
