When a class inquiry on frog lifecycles turns into an active literacy learning center… how many “flies” can you grab with your sticky frog tongue? This is a center we will revisit for years to come! #LearningInKinder @TVDSBLiteracy

Another fun way to work on blending in our class. Students roll a beginning blend then hop to an ending to make a word. Movement, phonological awareness, and hand-eye coordination! We❤️ a triple- learning opportunity! #FunInKinder

Easter literacy win! Students loved finding the eggs and writing down the words they decoded- before “hiding” them again for their friends! We’ll be doing this one again next year for sure!

Sensory Bin of the week! We are learning all about frog and turtle lifecycles this month, so we brought it to life with our very own wetland habitat! We used pool liner scraps and found items, this is why kindie teachers save everything 🤪

#ToughTraysoftheWeek last week’s tray was all about construction! Some laminated mats, waffle blocks, coloured rice and trucks made this center a week-long hit. Fine motor lovers rejoice!

#SpookySeason Center favourite of this week.. ghost letters! Black light flashlights and some lemon juice letters made for a great literacy activity! Is it ghost magic? Or science!

Potions abound, and witchlings afoot! As Halloween approaches, we made a good ol’ fashioned Witches Brew (a kindie fav). We spiced it up a bit to represent numbers differently, and it was a hit!

Last week we practiced our knowledge of consonant and word family blends by playing roll-a-word. Ss roll, decode the word, then decide if it’s a real or nonsense word! #emergingreaders @TVDSBKinder

On Friday, we read A Little Spot of Feelings by Diane Alber (@ArtistDi). We’ve talked about how different colours can depict different feelings, and how sometimes we feel more than one feeling. Then we crafted representations of our own spots! We 🩵 Self Reg/Art integration!
