"Once we get that (MRI) we'll get our doctors' opinions and be able to map out what a return to play looks like" David Stearns discusses the latest with Francisco Lindor:

@SNYtv Yeah there’s a really long track record of execs and managers getting fired for losing 100 games not many with this high of a pay roll, can’t wait for October

"I think we have a lot of players with really good track records in this league" David Stearns was asked what gives him the confidence in the talent on the Mets' roster that they can turn it around:

I know everyone thinks his Glengarry Glen Ross scene is Alec Baldwin's finest acting performance, but this must be a close second.

@NYNJHarper Luis Robert had one good year five years ago, Polanco is an injury prone mediocre 2nd baseman and we paid Bichette like he was Soto this team is so poorly constructed it’s a joke

Agree with this. If Mets were hitting, especially key acquisitions, presumably they'd have more wins/every mistake wouldn't be as magnified. 1B has been the only glaring problem. Though Robert wasn't as good as advertised. And I sure wouldn't put Ibanez back at 3B anytime soon.
That Mets Guy@metsfan8626

@NYNJHarper I think it looks a lot worse than it is because they can’t score. By most defensive metrics they are actually good despite several guys in new spots. But when there is zero margin for error because you have no offense it looks worse.

@nickythegood I’ve been watching since 89 and this is the first time I can remember the season being legitimately over by the 3rd week of the season. With a 380 m payroll it’s almost unfathomable for this team to suck this bad. The fact the people try to defend Stearns and Mendy is insane

Meet the Mess. The Mets (15-25) are the only MLB team on pace to lose 100 games.

@NYNJHarper Is it really that shocking, that a team constructed with very few productive players as well as several question marks in both the staff and bullpen is this bad

Thought Keith H made a pointed comment today re Mets' poor defense. "We've seen it happen a lot this year, where the Mets have been burned with people playing out of position."

When Rafael Devers is at his best, he has the ability to be a top 15-20 hitter. Making the move would allow the Giants to offload the contract — giving the Mets a foundational piece next to Juan Soto.
SleeperMets@SleeperMets

The Giants are “reportedly” looking to offload the contract of Rafael Devers, per @BNightengale THOUGHTS: The Mets should at least make an effort and see what the current asking price is. It’ll likely cost very little prospect depth just to add Devers.

Question for all @Mets fans. Would you rather (1) have this team make a bit of a comeback and get close to, or slightly over .500 by end of year or (2) have them lose 100 plus games. If you choose option 1, David Stearns stays. If you choose option 2, he’s fired at the end of the season. Which you choose?

In 1995, Paul Verhoeven actually showed up to the Razzies in person knowing Showgirls (1995) was about to get destroyed, then casually accepted seven awards himself, including Worst Director and Worst Picture. Honestly kind of legendary behavior.
