Delighted to find this scarce Midnight Disco (Pachyella violaceonigra) fungus growing directly out of the #tufa on the west fen this week! Likely grew from spores drifting over from the other side of the Valley...

W really wish our Elves would clear up after themselves when they've finished drinking the morning dew. We found loads of their Scarlet Elf Cups (Sarcoscypha austriaca) just left on this old log in the fen this morning!

Managed around 50 of these little beauties by rummaging around in carr woodland #HumberheadLevels Most seem attached to willow spp of timber 🍄 Vernacular name, Scarlet Elf Cup quite imaginative #Fungi #Ascomycete #Mycology
