Final project of the year! We held a "Book Fundraiser", where students researched endangered species on @WWF, and turned them into books for Grade 1-2s and adults, on @BookCreatorApp. 🐏🤙🏾🐺 @TDSB_STEM

As we wrap up our last week in Grade 2, the students reflected upon their year and shared what they learned. From multiplication to transferrable skills to social justice and self regulation; it's been a great one! 😊🤙🏾

All month long kids have been working on the Invention Fair. Think the World Fair, but it's something to help humans or the environment. Like air-water flying robots or portable ramps. Simple Machines! @TDSB_STEM @TDSB_ParksideES

This week a kid told me "You are the kind of teacher we will not forget about". Well dang, thank you. Here is this week's Studio STEAM time creation. Because all artists need a moment to let their imagination run free (within reason). @TDSB_STEM @TDSB_ParksideES

February has been busy! Today we celebrated the first day of March and Friday afternoon with some STEAM ("studio") time. Ss had a chance to follow a passion through STEAM and create. Here is a student's homage to Chicken Run (our favourite film) 🐓🐔🐣

As we move into the symmetry portion of Geometry, we took the time to practice our spatial sense vocab and created pictures out of manipulatives! @TDSBmath @TDSB_ParksideES

It's our favourite time of the year; when all our project pieces come together and the class turns into a workshop. Ss are working hard on creating celebration floats that represent their family traditions! @TDSB_STEM @TDSB_ParksideES

Solid building, letter writing, creating and robots during STEAM time today! Ss love to catch-up on work, then treat themselves to flexing creative muscles. (Points for marking yourself)

As we learn about our place in the environment and relationship with the Indigenous peoples, we read Shi Shi Etko. Then we created our own memory bags on what best represents us. DNA, family members and our interests (to name a few)

What's a good word problem without a good backstory? The Grade 2s are working on identifying what they know, need to know, developing and implementing a plan, for problem solving. Here's one place value question of the week 💪🏾 🍪 @TDSBmath

Having an unbeleafable time. The colours, activities and joys of Autumn!

We are learning about changing traditions and celebrations! The Ss interviewed their family, and talked about the meaning behind their name. Then we explored books about different cultures, holidays, and countries! What do we have in similar? What is different?

Today we finally finished sorting out books into appropriate genres, then each student was assigned a label and put together these bins (here are some). A great showcase of teamwork and collaboration. We're *almost* ready for Room 11's own version of @chaptersindigo! 📚

Place Value Partners! We built base tens all the way into the 100s. My hint before we started: "problem solve when you run out". They quickly realized 10 ones = 1 ten. Great game for any pace @TDSBmath

Blended letter sound scavenger hunt and categorizing our classroom library. The kids are getting well versed in our books. Creating personal connections to the book will get them interested; understanding letter sounds will keep them locked in (until they want snack)🤞🏾

Back in Grade 2 and @TDSB_ParksideES! Starting off the year with a focus in the science of reading. We had a blended sound scavenger hunt which helped us with our daily writing later on 🫡 @tdsb

Inspired by Normal Rockwell and the "Bad Seed" series, Ss drew and wrote about life, from their perspective. What does school look like for them? What elements of life do they wish to express through inanimate objects?
