I was accidentally on my 4th period Zoom link and 36 9th graders were just patiently waiting for me to start the right class wondering what happened to their teacher 🤦🏻‍♀️ #happyfriday

5 minutes into my 3rd period class, none of my students had shown up. Positive that they were part of an organized skip of my class (how dare they!), I angrily added sending 36 parent emails to my to-do list—until I got several emails asking “Where are you?”

I had my Journalism students “apply” for the role they wanted on the newspaper staff. Based on their applications & what I already know about these students, it’s so clear that they considered their strengths and not just what seemed easy and I really feel like Andy @ trivia ⬇️

Board members & Hite claimed that they listened, but if they truly heard us they would have heard the urgency in our demands for action NOW. It’s not just about the vote; the lack of acknowledgment, discussion, or guidelines/suggestions from the board to admin was unacceptable.

To anyone who thinks that the reopening debate is between parents and teachers, the speakers tonight should prove: the battle isn't b/w teachers and parents, it's between everyone who is in schools and the politicians/bureaucrats who aren't. #PHLed @PHLschools @PHLschoolboard
